Color Throwdown #120

Hi friends.  I'm back with my VERY LATE Wednesday Color Throwdown card!  I was indisposed Tuesday night when I planned to do my card.  I had a horrible headache and just laid on the couch trying to sleep and not get sick for hours.  Eventually the ibuprofen kicked in but it was just too late to get anything worthy finished.  Then the holiday took over, then JUGS, and here I am...four days later.  Danielle is our amazing hostess this week with what I initially thought of as a Halloween palette, but it's really not!  It's perfect for girly, Christmas-y, manly (if you distribute the colors appropriately)...sky's the limit!  Check it out:

Here's what I came up with:
CTD120
I did some fancy masking on this one.  I was inspired by a card Maille Belles created the week MTME sponsored Embellish Magazine.  My technique was different in that I didn't stamp my pattern around the masked piece, I printed it.  Yep...ran it right through the printer.  This is how...  I cut the Killer Curves cut file on my Cricut and adhered the piece to my cardstock using two temporary adhesive dots.  I then ran the cs through my printer and printed my patterned paper.  The cut file stayed put perfectly!  You may notice the distinct difference in the color of my card and the piece I ran through the printer shown below (the first photo shows the cut file still attached…it’s hard to see).  This is because I initially printed my MTME Wildflowers paper and later decided it just wouldn’t work for this color challenge :]

I modified my Amethyst Sparkle paper in my image editing program to make my purples a nice Razzleberry and my yellow on the background piece a pretty white (to show up better).  When I cut the first MTME Killer Curves piece I also cut another with the layered piece centered on top of it...to give me a "frame".  I held the frame in place on my printed cs and lightly sponged So Saffron on both the inside and outside of my frame.  I held the frame in place to double stamp my Killer Curves flowers that I colored with markers.  I stamped my MTME So Sentimental sentiment after I removed the frame.

That's really all there was to it.  The rest is a matter of punching the edges and corners and adhering with dimensionals.  Simple, right?  I'm sure the card will come in handy before I know it!

So, if you haven't already stopped by the Color Throwdown or the awesome DT's blogs, be sure to check it out!  They have some amazing samples for you this week :]
Thanks for stopping by!  Hope you're having an awesome, relaxing weekend ♥
